First week
We arrived as we usually do: on Aerobus from the airport. This was the easiest ever: our location in “La antiga esquerra de l’Eixample” is very close to one of the bus’s stops. We just had to walk a few minutes to get to our apartment.
Unload luggage, size up the place, grab our string bags, and off the the supermarket! We get the basics for a light meal and next day’s breakfast. The last time we were here, we left a big plastic tote at Roser’s studio, with household things we always need, stuff we don’t need to take home, or buy each time we’re here. Bob also left some printmaking stuff, also so as not to reinvent the wheel. Our trusty Rolser shopping trolley, our laundry basket and an umbrella were in there too. Bob even left a pair of jeans!
Roser let Bob know we were welcome to stop by that evening to pick up our stuff, and the bonus was there was a birthday party happening that evening for Laia, an artist who comes to the studio. So, we went up there on the metro, and walking. Our location isn’t close in, in Gràcia as before, so it’s a 25 minute trip. But it’s easy!
Because of that party, another art friend saw a photo of us at the party on social media! She messaged me to tell us she was showing her work. She would have never known we were in town if the folks at the party didn’t insist we get into a photo! We arranged for Robert and Nina meet to us, and we went out to dinner with them afterward. These connections are what makes us feel at home here.

After our last minute scramble to find another apartment because the first one had become unavailable (beyond the host’s control) we landed a beautiful, newly renovated space. And space it is! We’re gonna be comfortable here! Click to view on YouTube.
